Mother cat doing well after spaying

Lor51 - I wasn't able to get back to an earlier post about our stray cat and her kittens as my computer chucked a hissy fit and I had to put it in for repair. But we got her spayed last week, cost us TL160 at Garfield's. Nice bloke, very efficient. However, I am putting myself in for the Victoria Cross for bravery as he left plasters over her wound which we had to pull off the next day. I scruffed Jezebel and ripped off the plaster very fast, only to find there was one more. She was so evil after that (hence the switch from Snowflake to Jezebel as she's got a growl that would stop a tiger in its tracks, swipes you if she's in a bad mood and duffs up her kittens) that we gave away trying anything again that day. Next day, my husband refused to have anything to do with getting the other plaster off, the coward, so as she was lying stretched out, I nipped in a ripped the last plaster off than jumped back. Still alive, proving that the female of the species is more courageous than the male Yes, we would rather they stay here, to be honest, been a bit worried about their care while we're away, I can't imagine just leaving them as they are now so settled. The kittens have calmed down, they were pretty wild when they first arrived, and are so sweet. So, yes, now I'm back with the computer, I'm contacting Dawn to see if we can fix something up. We had actually intended to adopt a pet after our holiday, but it's always been our experience - after having 3 dogs and 6 cats - that they rock into your life when they feel like it, not when you want to choose. Hey-ho.

Ouch!!. Agree you deserve the Victoria Cross, and your hubby deserves a white feather:) The new vet on the main Catalkoy road (Next to wash and go and Pit stop) is the one I use, he is charging 200tl for the females but thankfully no plasters in sight. The boys are 100tl so they are the ones that I am targeting:) If you live in Catalkoy area, and when you go away I will come and feed them as I am here permanently.

I would seriously advise anyone on here who is an animal lover and cares about their pets to avoid Garfield surgery like the plague. I have no proof but from what I have seen, I don't believe he is qualified. Who on earth ever puts a plaster on over stitches. Your poor animal must have been so traumatised!

I havent heard of Garfield, where are they based. Whilst on the subjects of cats, do you know if there is a groomer that can cut my indoor cats fur, he will need to be put to sleep for it.

Lor51, Unfortunately we live in Alsancak as I'd love to take you up on your offer, but it's a long way from Catalkoy, I'm afraid. As for Garfield's, he's beside Freddie's Bar and we picked him as he got good reviews on Cyprus 44. He's a very efficient, pleasant young man, and the other reason we picked him was because we'd heard he'd fed and vaccinated a stray dog that used to hang around that area which we thought was very kind. I don't think you can comment on the positive or negative of a business unless you've used that business yourself. As for the plasters, perhaps he did that to minimise infection immediately after the operation. It was, admittedly, a delicate manoeuvre, but quick handiwork on my part (husband says he's quite happy to wave the white feather ) minimised any pain, it was over in seconds. And Jezebel's still very friendly towards me!

We've decided to stick to Jezebel, as Snowflake more suits one of the kittens. And Jezebel is a bit of a tribute to my Auntie Muriel, who used to sing "Jezebel". She was tone-deaf (as I am) and when we heard the first notes burst forth, we'd all scatter and run for cover I do have to say in all due modesty that I can reduce my husband to a whimpering wreck simply by singing at him as he is pitch perfect. We all have our little gifts and talents!
