Re: Travel Insurance
Where's "here" do you mean TRNC to Turkey? I think most, if not all insurance companies in TRNC do it, but whether it's financial viable, only you could decide.

Re: Travel Insurance
We have used Staysure insurance a number of times for annual and single trip policies. We used them when we went to Antalya from TRNC in June - it cost about £17 for 3 of us for 1 week. They cover a range of medical conditions for free.

Mmm, I thought I had posted an answer before - maybe I forgot to hit the submit button (either that or I have posted it elsewhere!!)
Try this company:

We use them regularly - including travelling to Turkey - and always from the TRNC.

Re: Travel Insurance
I am looking for insurance for a 3 day trip to Istanbul and have been quoted locally, 40 Euros for 2 of us. Does anyone know if this is the normal rate? I have tried the 2 sites mentioned earlier in this thread and neither will cover me. For Bengotravel I have to have been resident in the UK for the previous 6 months, which I have not, and with Staysure the expat policy does not cover travel to Cyprus or Turkey. Does anyone know of any other company that offers cover for TRNC and Turkey and that does not stipulate being resident in the UK or the trip starting from the UK to qualify?

Re: Travel Insurance
We got travel insurance recently for a 7 day trip to Turkey from the travel agents nearly opposite the road up to the GAU next to where the Old Iktisatbank used to be. I think it is called Cerami Travel. I think it was 8 Euros each or 48 YTL for 2.

Re: Travel Insurance
Found this on the BRS website - thought the problems with staysure had been sorted out - they keep sending me reminders but I haven't needed to buy in the last year.
'Esta Insurance provides 'short term' insurance for a week, fortnight or month, ideal for those trips back to the UK. Contact is Huseyin 0533-8518746. For those members that have 'Staysure' policies, your existing policy is valid but as from 18th July, we have been advised that no new policies will be issued to any person that is not a member of the European Union. Smacks of politics again. An alternative can be provided by Esta. Contact Huseyin or Anthony for further information.'
Their quote not mine - I'm sure they mean any member who is not residing in the EU.

Re: Travel Insurance
Further to my asking for a information regarding travel insurance I have now discovered that the policies all seem to just cover for Medical emergencies. I am really hoping to find one that also covers loss of personal items, cameras, cash etc. similar to UK policies. Has anyone bought a policy that covers personal effects? I have also tried to get a quote on the Pegasus website but link but the doesn't seem to work. Has anyone been able to buy their insurance when you have purchased flights? Many thanks

Re: Travel Insurance
With regard to the Staysure policies. I spoke to David Brown BRS Chairman who requests that any member who has a problem getting insured with this company because they are in the TRNC should contact him. Presumably via the BRS website.

Re: Travel Insurance - update re Staysure
I have just spoken with Staysure and they have confirmed that people living in North Cyprus are covered on their policies. Their comment was "we treat the whole of Cyprus as one so it makes no difference to us if you live in the North or the South!"

Re: Travel Insurance
Good to know that we can still buy proper travel insurance from them. Last time we went to Turkey we used them and put down our home country as Cyprus.
