Turkish passport-holders allowed into the south?

I have a query on behalf of a friend in the US. Her son has a Turkish girlfriend and he had the idea of catching up with her in south Cyprus. Someone told me that Turkish passport holders aren't allowed into the south. Is this correct? I've also let him know that the south really isn't likely to be a very friendly place for is Turkish girlfriend regardless of whether she can enter or not.

Surely it would be easier for him to cross to the North. As far as I know from my Turkish friend she cannot cross to the south. If your son's girlfriend is a Turkish Cypriot she can cross with her Kimlik.

Unfortunately, she would not be welcome and would not get across. I am active on a forum based in the South and hatred of Turks is quite endemic in a lot of GCs. It may change in the future, but I wouldn't hold your breath. The present situation re the Turkish exploratory ship, Barbaros, will not help her situation. Get him to come up here in peace.

Turkish Passport Holders are not allowed to cross the border but can access The South via one of the airports. A friend of ours does this every year.

Thanks very much for your responses, couldn't reply before as I haven't been able to access KibKom. I'll pass this info on to my friend's mother in the US. I pretty much thought she should give the south a miss.
