Sirin Yali - has anyone been yet - new owners again
Has anyone been to the Sirin Yali yet, I have heard that the previous owners of Cafe Deli have taken it.
After some disastrous meals there previously I could do with some good news please - but please be honest about it. This is in effect my local and I would love to use it again.
In my view it has never been any good since Hamit retired.

Opening day free food was very good, and well attended however, subsequent visit food basic and badly presented. Perhaps just unlucky.

Didn't go to the opening but went on Saturday evening for the first time.
Both had home made Lasagne, side salad & chips. Both shared a basket of garlic bread.
All cooked to perfection and couldn't eat all the lasagne as the portion was huge!!
As well as the standard menu, there were blackboard specials including various fresh fish, lasagne & belly of pork.
Very nicely presented and good value for money.
Will definitely go again as local to us.

The day time menu is much like Cafe Deli's offerings, but they have specials on a board every evening. Had swordfish cooked to perfection and cottage pie, both lovely. They still have Cafe Deli I believe. Good luck to Lydia and Ibo, I hope they make a real go of it.

Of course the opening was well attended if there was free food.

I didn't go unfortunately, I was given the wrong date! You seem to be suggesting there are a bunch of opportunistic freeloaders living here

I don't call them freeloaders,i refer to them as the carrier bag club. The opening of the Bamboo bar comes to mind, over 80 people attended now when ever i drive past it's like the decks of the Marie Celeste

Yea ,Mambo/Bamboo a typical example such a relevant post. We cannot understand the Patrons of these bars etc. keep doing this free food thing. i would be embarrassed to freeload. Yet you see the same faces every time a new place opens filling their plates and smiling for the camera. I hope the locals do not think we all like this. No such thing as a Free Supper unless you live in Karsiayka or Lapta.

I don't believe we've been to one opening for anything in the ten years we have been here. It's usually the case that we read about it after it's happened in the weekend paper. However, I can't really blame anyone for going along and taking advantage of a freebie as long as they go back at least once and pay the full whack. Hold on a minute, we did go to one - Blue Song, but only because we happened to be passing at the time.

We went last evening, quite a few customers there which bodes well. The place looks nice and clean and well appointed. Little disappointed with the menu which is a basic café menu and the specials are an added bonus. I too had the swordfish and it was cooked well, my wife tried the omelette and said it was really good. Had a chat with the lady in charge and in due course they will expand the food choice and also the wine cellar. Think they will do very well and we will return on occasions.

Owl, it is on the sea front in Karsiyaka. Turn right of the main road at Karsiyaka Square then take the left hand road down towards the sea. Just keep on driving down that road and you will come to it. Come to think of it, if you take the right hand road down from the square you will come to it too, just don't bump into yourself coming the other way!

Thanks Goldfinch, you're right. More like 8 weeks ago wasn't it, I'd forgotten that one too. Maybe I've been to all of them???
But in mitigation, I will say that the old noddle isn't what it used to be, and there weren't any freebies at that one, just a bit of discount so a better class of freeloader, don't you think!
