transferring car into new name

hi guys,

is there a time limit on transferring a car from person to person?

My husband is going to take the log book in his name now, as my passport is still with the WP police!!!! Can he transfer it to me immediately i get passport back?

deep in the recess of my brain is a warning light that you can only transfer after a certain time.............

I believe that it is the new owners responsibility to complete the transfer in one month

yeah, but can then you change the name again immediately? he takes it now, then transfers too me end of November?

Yes you can then transfer into your name,you end up paying twice.

Yes there is a time limit of 2 weeks to transfer the name of a car owner over. You will need to go to the office in Lefkosa. You will need the transfer form duly signed by the current owner and the Muhtar will need to sign and stamp it. You will need a 2tl stamp as well. The new owner then counter signs the form and takes this along with the insurance, MOT (if applicable), log book, passport and a copy of the passport to the office in Lefkosa (just behind the old CTA building). They will transfer the ownership over, complete the paperwork and charge you about 335tl.

Thanks guys, got the muhtsr to do my transfers papers with a copy of my passport. So off to lefkosa Monday for transfer.

Just wanted to thank kibkomers for the good advice! We just transferred the car we've bought into our names - simple process! The stamp on the form is now 3tl and it cost us 200tl to do the transfer into both our names.
