Hoşgeldin Ramazan !
Today is the first day of fasting for many of our Muslim friends. Best wishes to you at this special time of year
For the majorıty of us on this forum, that don't fast, some of you might be wondering the best times to visit the restaurants to avoid the "iftar rush" or want to know when to start the barbeque so as not to annoy your hungry neighbour: On the attachment below you can see the breakıng-of-the-fast-times in red under "İftar Akşam"

No indeed Dippersgirl - the İmsak time is not for a call to prayer - it is the time in the morning that Muslims stop eating, that is of course if they get up early enough to eat something

I asked a friend today,is it not going to be very difficult this year in these temperatures. He said sometimes the path of Ramazan is flat, this one is going to be like a steep hill, but navigable with faith and determination.
I think that analogy sums up life in general for most of us.

I can see that it is very possible to fast but not to be able to drink water in this heat is very dangerous surely?

At what age do children start to observe ramazan and how do they manage all day or is there a ramazan 'lite' for them.
Retired in the TRNC - now also retired in the UK

"At what age do children start to observe Ramazan"
Smithscorner, those children from more devout families tend to start when they become adolescents.
By the way, I would estimate that very few TCs (meaning of all, incuding adults) fast for each of the 30 days. Many though, including my Father-in-law, will do it for a few days. However, I would say that more than 50% of the mainlanders will try to fast for all 30 days.

While we were watching the aerial display, a young chap stood near us just keeled over - he had looked perfectly OK up to that point, but he just went down like a sack of spuds.
At that point, he may have been without food or water for 15 hours, and he was standing around in the sun. I certainly wouldn't attempt it...

Your post got me thinking Keith - I would presume pilots in secular Muslim countries are encouraged not to fast while on duty - My wife's cousin's husband is a pilot - I'll ask him
