I am with multimax and between 18.00 to 22.00 hrs the tv picture buffers really badly, this happens every evening without fail, it is fine during the day, does anybody else get this or is your internet provider any better

Have you approached MM for an answer?

What was MM response to your problem?

We often get exactly the same problem. Multimax have advised that because this is peak user time, the signal to our area is being diluted by numerous people logging on at this time. They did say that they are working to improve the signal in our area. Do find it also improves when all the holiday people around our area have gone home, so it is possibly down to a large number of people using the system at the same time - system overload.

I do not know the exact explanation given to you by Multimax word by word, but I am almost 100% sure that this was now what was advised to you by Multimax as it is not correct information. Nothing beyond 'Multimax have advised..." is correct information.

We have the same problem with multi max internet, for the last two weeks it has been at 5o'clock each evening and continues all evening. Complaining is useless it gets you nowhere, just more frustration

Does this mean the MM service is over subscribed generally, or is it the transmission equipment in some areas is not up to the job, due to the net traffic volume? Bottom line if MM cannot achieve its agreed service level due to the number of its customers it either needs to upgrade its gear or shed numbers

If only things were as simple as you seem to think they are Makum.

The Multimax service is not 'over subscribed' generally. We have more than enough core capacity in our connection out to the internet via TTnet in Turkey to handle peak loads with room to spare. That is just a fact.

Whilst you may think the only cause of 'slow' internet at a given customers house is a function of us loading more customers on a given network element than that element can handle, you are in fact just mistaken. What we do, what our job is, is to match capacity with demand. It is a constant never ending ongoing process. 'Load' (having more usage than a given network element can handle) is actually one of the least common causes of slow speeds at the customer's end and when such is the cause, we increase the capacity of that network element accordingly, or put in additional network elements and spread the load across them. This is what we do, this is our job. There are countless more common reasons for why at a given time a given customer may be experiencing slow speeds that are nothing to do with 'load' issues, yet invariably any time a customer experiences such, some customers will just automatically assume, its a load issue, those cheapskates at MM are just pilling on more customers without any regard for if the network can handle the extra usage or not, regardless of what the actual reality is. Some people will chose to believe this not because it is true but because they simply WANT to believe it regardless of the actual truth.

As to 'agreed service level' there is in fact , just like with EVERY other home internet package around the world, no SLA (service level agreement). There is no 'SLA' on the BT fiber home internet package I have in the UK, with an 'up to' speed of 78mbs and that costs approx £35pm. There is an SLA on the business leased line connection I have to the same location which is a 100mbs connection - but that costs £1350 per MONTH. Can you see the difference ? The former is essentially in analogy terms access to a road network used by other people as well as me, the later is a 'private road' used and only usable by me and me alone.

Multimax has no SLA on its domestic home internet packages, which is true not just of MM's home connections, true not just of every ISP provider of such services in North Cyprus but true of every such service the world over. However what MM DOES have, which no other ISP in North Cyprus has and indeed no other any where in the world that I am aware of, is its 'guarantee' that if you can get faster actual speeds from another provider at comparable cost, or even THINK you can, we will refund any unused portion left on your contract.

However Makum if you remain convinced that what MM needs to do is 'shed customers' and you are yourself a MM customers, then please do PM your account details to me and I will put you at the top of the list for 'shedding'. Doing so will not magically make other MM customers connections faster or faster at peak times, not even in your 'area' but I would be more than willing to do so regardless.

I have no problems with multimax, and was an 'early adopter' when they launched-people that have lived here longer than I tell me sending an Email in the 'old days' could take hours.

What Erol is saying makes a lot of sense.

I get 25mbs in quiet times and maybe 12-15mbs in busy times-mind you I have cabled the house up using a hub so I am always directly wired-wireless here is often dodgy because of all the metal in the houses.

I have occasionally noticed an issue, classic case is when England are playing football, there is buffering, but I think that is more to do with the channel rather than multimax because if you change channels there is no buffering.

Erol, now that I have praised you, please can you make sure I have plenty of bandwidth over the weekend as England are playing New Zealand at Rugby.

Thanking you in anticipation Erol,

from you bestest fan

well, I am totally computer illiterate. I am not with Mulitimax, and had problems with buffering. I telephoned to ask what the problem was, only to be told that we had three things running. Well that was impossible, we only have a laptop and a TV. It appeared that someone was ''tapping'' into our bandwidth, (is that the right terminology?).
He did something to secure our ''thingy'', and since then, we've changed companies, and all is fine.
The point of my post is, check that you have a secure connection, just in case.

Thanks for the in depth reply Erol, bet your fingertips are smoking. Personally I've no gripes with MM, for this third world backwater the service is as good as it's ever going to get. Shame it seems the only provider folks seem to moan about

We have used MM for over 2 years now, we use it every day for probably over 12 hours per day 2 laptops running and I can say that yes we have times when the service is slow and there are times when the service has short outages but more often than not we are notified by SMS about the short term problems.
The service MM provides easily surpasses the service I had when I lived in the UK and other countries where I have lived and worked around the world.
Keep up the good work MM it is appreciated.
As far as I am concerned I am definately getting what I pay for and have no complaints.
