Never had trouble there carrying bags, so you should be OK with clothes.
A wardrobe might be more of an issue!

I have been many times and never stopped. Last time I was carrying a Debenham's bag and still not stopped. I have also taken a back pack and put items in there. You are allowed a certain amount for personal use anyway (I think its about TL280 per person) but not 100% sure if that sum is current.

Never had a problem coming back to our side, but seen people returning to the Greek side being stopped looking for counterfeit/copy items being taken back.

I made it back with much more shopping than my husband was happy about.Strange guy that works in a cafe just on the Greek side asked me if I was crossing the border and said only sheep cross from North to South.Idiot.

Just for info, I was checked at the Beyarmadu crossing last week. Mind you, there were 4 ladies in the car and the boot was pretty full but he only took a cursory look and let us through.

Hope you have plenty of money, when we looked in Next is was at least 30/50% more expensive than the U.K.

Debenhams is more expensive too, but just past McDonald's is a shop called 'Tiger', which is quite Ikerish, (but no furniture). I picked up some bits in there which were quite reasonably priced.
