No network on new mobile phone
Yesterday I purchased a new Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 from Turkcell. I also bought 2 new sim cards (one for the new phone and one for an existing android phone that I already had) under the student package (10,000 texts per month, free calls to other Turkcell student package users and 1GB of data). I was told that the network and phones would be available to use in less than an hour and I just had to insert the sim card and away I go.
Last night, I managed to get onto my emails, the internet, change the language to English, etc. However what I can't do is make phone calls from either device as a message keeps popping up saying "no network coverage", "not registered on a network" on one phone and "calls barred" on the other.
Has anyone experienced this before and can pass over some advise as to how to get around it?
Many thanks in advance.

I would go back to Turkcell where this was purchased and ask that they activate it for you

Or, seeing as it is Sunday...
Try turning the 'phones(s) off completely, so that they shut down, and then turn them back on.
If that doesn't help, then as suggested, one of the Supermarket 'phone counters may be able to help, and failing that, there's always Turkcell tomorrow...
(Or just hope that Groucho spots this thread - he'll know if anyone does )

Re: No network on new mobile phone
Try Keith's switch off and on advice first - if this doesn't give you access (by creating a new handshake with the network) then it's almost certain they have neglected to register the new SIMs on the network and it won't work until they do. So do as Muffin says... go see them or give them a bell (on your phone which doesn't work - oops!)
However, one question... does it come up saying 'emergency calls only''? It should if it can see the network even when you are not registered.

Yes it does say emergency calls only?
The shop was closed today. I think I will have to go back to Girne tomorrow and ask them to help.
Thanks to everyone who suggested turning it off and on I have tried this and sadly got the same response once turned back on.

Have you tried going into settings, network & wifi connections and seeing if you need to manually select the turkcell network.

Re: No network on new mobile phone
This is probable because the shop has not registered them with the network provider, all sim cards need to be 'switched on'
You will probably need to go back to the Turkcell shop or Lamar to get then 'authorised'
you can pick up your emails as your probably connected to wifi

When they activate a card, it will start working immediately. That is a British immediately.

Good - that means there is nothing wrong with the phone or its reading of the SIM... so it's just a matter of the SIM getting registered as a subscriber to the Turkcell network... Good luck!Witchy wrote:Groucho

Once registered it normally takes about 15 mins for the network to pick up your location.
I wouldn't move from the shop until it's working though.... don't want another trip in.

Dear All,
Thank you for the various replies and assistance.
I went back to the Turkcell shop today. They hadn't registered my new sim to a network. It is working now.
I will wait in the shop until it is working should there be a next time.
Thanks again everyone
