Why do moderaters close topics that are interesting
I talk about the post "Kar killing puppies" yes its controversial but it should be left open for people to air their views. It should only be closed if in any way it becomes libellous and defamatory. But this is an interesting debateable topic and not your " where can I get blue cheese from or how far is it to Ercan airport " so come on mods let people discuss and allow free speech, otherwise the forum becomes predictable and boring. You still have your " blue cheese " discussions but please don't kill interesting topics.

Totally agree wıth what you say as long as the discussion are within bounderies then a forum is all about Freedom of Speech. İt also allows person or persons who are beıng subjected to crıtıcısm to comment for themselves openly on the forum.

They don't do it to be bloody minded... it's a judgement call and in the case to which you refer I guess they judged that it was close to libellous, so much so that they put an end to it.
Statements of hearsay were being couched in terms as though they are statements of fact being made - rather than questions asked (even the thread title was woefully inadequate in its lack of fairness to those being talked about) so I dare say the call was right.... People have a duty of care to make sure they don't falsely sully someone else's reputation. This board is not meant to provide a means for trolls to hurt other members is it?
Imagine the damage that a bare statement such as this can have on the morale of an already overworked and under appreciated group like KAR?
What next? So and so is a bigamist/thief/paedophile... followed by no facts and nothing to back it up other than tittle-tattle.... Come on - there are limits what is fair in free speech

Thank you groucho. Spot on. No one confirmed this out appears not to have happenef and to besmirch the name of KAR in hearsay is not something anyone or v this gorum should be doing. It already appeared on a negative path of 'No more donations' etc.
of course if anyone had any facts on the truth and o the names of those who wish to protest they can stay another thread-I'll and only if it is to reveal truth.
than I s again Groucho.

topten - 'free speech' comes at a cost from those fighting to preserve it and those using it, personal and moral responsibility is a cost of having this right. Rumour, hearsay without factual and true evidence is not 'free speech'. Well done Mods - KAR is a useful tool in animal welfare in a country which appears not to care - IMHO.

Well said Groucho even though I don't live in NC as an animal lover I support Kar as much as I can when I am there, reading that thread to me it sounded though there was a grudge coming from somewhere.

This is exactly what I wanted a debate about the rights and wrongs of what was stated, and if there doubt about my reasons for wanting this, is that for what its worth I totally support Kar and all it does for dogs and cats. If it is or was libellous then Kar should deal with it. What I would liked to have happened was to debate the rights and wrongs of euthanizing unwanted pups and kittens.

That's all well and dandy but to do so under the banner of a thread stating that KAR is killing puppies is simply wrong... By all means open a new thread with the title 'should strays be culled' and good luck to you - but don't anyone attempt to side track the issue into a condemnation of KAR for something they don't do..... After all, you wouldn't expect a discussion of euthanasia to mention the name of a local doctor who doesn't kill people deliberately as though he is killing people - would you?topten wrote:This is exactly what I wanted a debate about the rights and wrongs of what was stated, and if there doubt about my reasons for wanting this, is that for what its worth I totally support Kar and all it does for dogs and cats. Vets in North Cyprus are not allowed to euthanise a healthy dog or pup so there is no point debating it as it will not happen!

Shell - I would rather see you amend your post - take out the word "will" and replace it with "should", then I would agree with you. Because of this I think there is a point in debating the subject. Otherwise it would be the same as posting: "Persons driving vehicles are not allowed to use mobile phones whilst driving so there is no point debating it as it will not happen", if you get my point!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
