Getting some strange phone calls

For the last few days I have been getting calls at all times of the day and night. The calls are from a variety of unknown numbers which appear to be in Germany or Switzerland and only ring out for a second or so, is anyone else getting these calls. I block the numbers each time but then another one joins in, any advice folks.

Are they from +3069 ... numbers?

Internet marketing companies search through websites to find number, then automated bots test to see if it is a live number. Dial tone then confirms. Hence why they call in the middle of the night. Off-peak.

Ps. A bit like, this looks like a good email just in!! ... (I'm an expert at spotting the Nigerian Spammers) ... Keeps us smiling at least.

If your phone only ring once or twice then cuts out do NOT call back as these are the high price calls which will cost you a fortune for nothing.

If you have an iPhone you can block the number.

just because it appears to come from Switzerland, or Germany, doesn't mean this is correct.

VOIP regional numbers are available on IP phones and can appear to be from anywhere in the world.

We have a local UK number here in Cyprus so anyone calling us, it's a local call for them.

If we plug our box in anywhere in the world, the number comes with us.

So, a scammer in any country of the world, can appear to be a legitimate business from another country
So easy to appear to be something you are not.

Yes we have been getting strange 'phone calls, but the caller is Turkish. The guy keeps rabbiting on, Tell him we do not speak Turkish, but he keeps rabbiting on though. We just ignore the calls now. maybe he will get fed up and find some one else eh.

Several friends have had calls from someone purporting to be from the police but when challenged as to who he wants he goes away. Fortunately these ladies had the sense to put the phone down on the person calling. Obviously a scam caller so beware of this type of call

Me and my Husband have been getting calls also from a +3069
But once its rung and then cuts off, we just have a look at the number
and ignore it !!!!

New twist on these strange phone calls which used to ring once and stop. Last night they were very persistent and kept on ringing, odd codes and one 0000123456! Did they think we would answer this? Switched the phone off in the end.

Now this morning we had a text saying "cant get thru" from an apparently Swedish number - just to warn everybody they've started texting now!!

The number 0000123456 is the Skype default... so someone is trying to Skype you I guess

They seem to have eased off a little now but still getting the odd one. The annoying thing is that they sometimes call in the middle of the night, we can't switch the phone off as family may need to contact us urgently so we have to grin and bare it.
