Private hospital - should they provide an invoice/receipt ?

I have just had some surgical treatment as a day patient at a local private hospital (Kamiologlu - wrong spelling i am sure). I first saw the doctor who referred me to the surgeon - i paid the receptionist/nurse upstairs for the doctor's consultation.
After a consultation with the surgeon who told me how much it would be for the procedures and follow ups i had the operations done a week later and had to pay the receptionist the full amount in the main reception area as i was leaving . I asked for a receipt (as it was quite a lot) and was told no receipt necessary for day cases.
Is this correct ?

My understanding (cop out ! ) is that a 'Fatura' - 'bill / invoice' must be supplied if requested, for any transaction.

I do not believe that there is any legal reason to withhold a fatura, which should, incidentally detail any KDV (VAT) due...

I am not an expert, but failure to issue a formal receipt could, to my mind, at the very least, flag up the possibility of some sort of Tax avoidance / Evasion. There may be perfectly innocent explanations in the case mentioned, but I would be inclined to explore / pursue those possibilities...

I would welcome your thoughts and comments...

How very unprofessional. I would have to insist on a detailed invoice in order to claim from my worldwide medical cover. In any case, imagine that something goes wrong with the procedure (hopefully not), where is the gurantee that the procedure happened, the surgeon who carried it out, and the fact that you paid? We are very vulnerable when we are sick..but we should insist on an invoice. The more I read about private hospitals in TRNC, the more afraid I am of ever having to use them...with or without medical cover.

you should have been issued with a fatura (invoice) and also a makbuz (which proves you have paid) to two go together ie the fatura number is shown on the makbuz and payment method

I would go back and demand a receipt.

I look after a lady who has just come out of the Etik hospital, she was given two receipts, one for the ''hotel'' charges, ie the room and the other a thorough breakdown of costs of treatments, drugs etc etc.

She was told that it is the law that they give a receipt.

Also, as mentioned by another poster, if, God forbid, should anything go wrong, what proof have you that you were treated there?
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I agree having had many visits to the Kyrenia Medical Center and no receipts give but then I didnt ask for one silly me. But I have all my case notes and treatments listed so hopefully that would prove what they did.

I never realised, that I didn't get a receipt from Kyrenia Medical centre. Neither after my wrist was re set(wrongly) and also a Carpal tunnel operation (un necessary!) these operations were done in conjunction with each other by the same surgeon! Both these operations confirmed as incorrect by Near East. I would NEVER use that hospital again.
However my late husband had a gall bladder operation done at Etik and as the above poster mentioned, fully itemised bill and receipt!

Don't ever let yourself be in the position that we found ourselves. My husband had a replacement knee (which has turned out to be a catastrophic failure) Not only were we NOT ALLOWED to pay the hospital, we were only allowed to pay the Surgeon is GBP money in a brown envelope, which he collected from our house. The man was a total fraud and evaded tax at every turn, He wouldn't even allow us to go to his consulting rooms to pay him because he was so bent (which is more than my husbands knee does!!)
