Ikea advice

Can anyone advise...

If I were to buy furniture from Ikea in the South (headboard, shelving units and lights), am I able to bring them into the North without any problems? Would I have to pay import tax?

Many thanks

If you get stopped at customs you would pay.

The items might even be confiscated if you tried to take them through without declaring them.

The Green Line regulatios refer to 'Items for Personal Use' (I think), and there may a notice on display at the crossing points saying what items are / are not permitted - but not sure about that.

I do recollect reading somewhere that 'Locally produced furniture' was allowed - presumably to encourage Local Industry - but Ikea flat-packs would certainly not come under that heading!

Someone may know more...

I got through 2 ikea book cases & an umbrella through without any problem, but i guess like most times its who's on & how they are feeling,
I was however informed that we could purchase 200 euros of goods per person.
Might be worth enquiring on you way in
