Advice on Refund for flight with Turkish Airline

Hello! Advice please - I am having to cancel flights with Turkish Airlines due to an accident and was wondering the best way to do it. I know they have a sales office in Lefkosia and was thinking it may be better to do it in person. I have had no joy on line anyway. Does anyone know if they give any refunds? Thank you - Wendy BBB Other Half.

You will need some proof of accident for them. My son died 2 days before he was due to fly here to stay with me and they did refund his ticket price but only when they receivedthe death certificate. An official letter from the undertakers beforehand was no use at all. I booked with Ankara travel and they sorted it out for me so you'd be batter to let your tour agent deal with it or else e-mail them fast explaining your situation

If it is a promotion flight price you will not get a full refund, I got the amount paid for taxes etc but not the full price, It was refunded to my card I then had to get an invoice showing the breakdown how much I had been refunded and the full price of the ticket to claim from my insurance. I did all this by e-mail.

Yes they do give refunds.

How much refund you will get depends on the class of booking and the price you paid. As someone stated before, for the very cheap promo you would get the tax paid back - which is around 30-35 % of the ticket value but I am not certain.

You can get almost if not full refund if you paid the normal fair. But you are absolutely right in wanting to go there personally. They will deal with it in no more than 5 minutes and credit your account if you used your credit card. You will need to use the same credit card you paid for the tickets. If you bought it from a THY office poaying cash and hold the tickets, you simply take the tickets with you and you would be refunded in cash.

If the refund is not possible on the ticket class or punitive on the amount they want to charge
Try changing the ticket for another flight they've charged me 50 euro on a single flight to the uk from Lefkosa
Either the Lefkosa or the Ercan offices more friendly at the airport

I had to change a Turkish Airlines flight when my sister fell ill. That cost me €60. Sadly, she died so I had to change my return flight and they wanted €400 to change it! I told them to put it where the sun does not shine and bought a single into Larnaca in the end. I always fly with Turkish Airlines but they can be a little unsympathetic sometimes.

Just a quick update - went to Turkish Airlines Sales Office in Lefkosia this morning with tickets etc and explained the problem
The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful !
They checked and the tickets were non refundable but they have changed them to an open ticket which can be used upto a year from the date of purchase of old ones.
There will be a charge but this is far better than losing £300.00p plus, the price of the originals.
Thank you Ladies of Turkish Airlines Sales Office, Lefkosia - you are a Credit to your Company.

Can anyone give me directions please to the Turkish Airlines office in Lefkosa. I need to speak to someone about making some changes to tickets so would prefer to use the main office rather than smaller ones. Thanks in advance.

I had booked tickets to go back to see my mother last year but sadly she died suddenly a week before I went. I had also booked tickets to go this year in July to visit her. Turkish Airlines were absolutley fabulous. They refunded all my monies to me. I had to show proof of my mothers death with her death certificate to the office in Leftkosia. I had to contact customer services online also, it took them quite a few days in replying but in the end they were very sympathetic and helpful. Could not fault them. Well done Turkish Airline.
