Eroğlu: “There is no possibility for the resumption of negotiations at the moment”

President Derviş Eroğlu said as the Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiadis will be going to New York for heart operation next month he called him as wished him a speedy recovery in advance.
Eroğlu said: “Anastasiadis will be in New York for 20–25 days. There is no possibility for the resumption of negotiations at this time. It seems that everything will be postponed to January and that is if Anastasiadis decides to come to the table. Indicating that Nikos Anastasiadis put forward the precondition that Turkey should withdraw her vessels and promise not to go to the region again Eroglu said: “It is obvious that it is not possible to start negotiations with such a precondition. We do not need to make any commitment so that the Greek Cypriot side would return to the table.”

Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu: “We can withdraw our vessel only if they make a commitment to stop drilling activities”

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu said: “We can withdraw our vessel if the Greek Cypriot Administration makes a commitment to stop drilling activities. We have to concentrate on negotiations at the moment. We want a solution more than anyone and we are one step ahead of everyone in this regard. ”
Cavusoglu made a statement: “We support negotiations in Cyprus. It should be a permanent and just solution. We support the establishment of a state which protects the rights of both sides in the island.” Cavusoglu continued as: “Greek Cypriot Administration started unilateral drilling activities at the seas around Cyprus at a time when negotiations speeded up. We ask them we ask Greece and to the UN. Are there rights of the Turkish Cypriot people on the gas and oil reserves around Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean? They all say ‘Yes, there are’. Well, then why are you unilaterally performing drilling activities by putting the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people aside? They say ‘We will continue drilling and then we can share this later if there is a solution.’ Is there such an understanding? Is there such a good will? There is no good will at all. Greek Cypriot side could not pass the sincerity test”.

Çiçek: “Attitudes taken by Greek Cypriot side cause new security problems in Eastern Mediterranean”

Within the framework of his visit to Albania, Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly (GNAT) Cemil Çiçek, said that one of the most important disputes in front of the UN is the Cyprus problem. Çiçek said “The attitude taken by Greek Cypriot side can cause new security problems in Eastern Mediterranean”.
Çiçek added that he is asking the countries he is having contacts with to evaluate the Cyprus issue justly, and, as far as possible, to support the policies of Turkey and establish relationship with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“We found a new Downer”

The Greek Cypriot media reacted to the statement made yesterday by the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser to Cyprus Espen Barth Eide and associated him to former Special Adviser Alexander Downer by commenting on as “We thought we got rid of Downer, however we found a new Downer who resembles him more each and every passing day. ”. Accusing Espen Barth Eide for adopting Turkish thesis, Greek Cypriot media expressed that Greek Cypriot political parties also reacted to Eide’s statements.
On the other hand, Greek Cypriot daily Simerini reported that, according to some sources in Greek Cypriot Leaders’ Palace, the Greek Cypriot government is annoyed from Eides’ statements as well. Greek Cypriot government, which defends that his statement does not reflect reality, is expected to reply Eide today. (Translation: Public Information Office)

Just had a thought that it might be interesting to have feed back from Kibkomers about this kind of posting. Interesting? Dull? Wanted? Not wanted? etc etc. I am happy to post this daily, but if people feel it is not of sufficient interest, then do say so.

Enjoy!

I like seeing it here!! It maybe available in other papers, but why not have it here. That's like saying I won't read the 'Telegraph' because the 'Times' is already reporting it. In this case it may be the same words, but the reaction will be different.
Also as I look here most days, I'll read it here. I don't always have time to go to all the different news sites. Keep it coming, I say!!
