Who is your pick?

I think it will be Lewis - F1 has such a good track record (sic) when we have a World Champion....

I think it will be Lewis Hamilton too, but I'd really like to see either Charlotte Dujardin or Kelly Gallagher and her guide win.

I would like to see Charlotte DuJardin win as she has a fantastic medal record. However I feel she has no chance against Lewis Hamilton. Why do they not have an award for each sex? It would then give a woman a chance.

Not being into either sports .

F1 lots of money and naturally being just own people will say Hamilton ....car plays a big part in this sport and as I say not by bag at all .
Then Rory McElroy ,wow what has he achieved this year ,again not my sport but he would be my vote .

I think in terms of personality my vote would not naturally go first to Lewis... he's a great driver and very driven but I don't see much evidence of personality....

I do think the Mercedes Team should win the team trophy.

Having said that Nigell Mansell won and he had the personality of a brush! So it seems to me Lewis is a shoe-in...

Well if the bookies have got it correct (which they nearly always do) then its Rory (1\3) who will lift the trophy.
Hamilton is priced at 11\4 with 50\1 anyone else.

The bookies may have more difficulty than in the past due to the change in the voting process - but as there are many more golfers in the UK than motor-sport participants (although everyone in Cyprus is a participant!) you may well be right....

Hamilton struggled to beat a rookie using the same car - and was never in danger of competition from any other driver because the mercedes was the best car by (literally) miles.

McIlroy won 2 majors and led from the front in the Ryder Cup.

No contest as far as I'm concerned.

Struggled? He won 11 races and Nico only 5 - having put Hamilton out deliberately in one of them... three other races Hamilton's supposedly superior car developed problems... and cost him the race. His driving in all races otherwise 99% faultless. Rookie is a much abused title for Nico - having raced with Hamilton for much of their childhood I don't think their relative driving qualities are an unknown to either driver.

I get it that you like Rory for the title but get your facts right....

Oh and Rory is the one sportsman who makes Lewis look charmed....

He struggled in the sense that the title was not won until the final race and he was behind Rosberg for a lot of the season. That's two facts.

He's a rookie in the sense that he has won 8 (5 of which were this season in the dominant mercedes car) grands prix to Hamilton's 33 and Hamilton won the world championship some 7 years ago. That's another 4 facts.

I don't like Rory - mainly because he's decided to play for a foreign country rather than the UK so shouldn't be in consideration.

But in my opinion he will win.

Small point but I didn't say you liked Rory - I said you liked him for the title... a different thing. I think he has a good chance but it seems to me Brit F1 champions do really well - looking at past nominees and win ratios.

Also the only reason it went to the last race was the stupid change in the points system that put double-bubble on the last one... It would have been done and dusted a lot sooner if 1. The points won by Nico were forfeit when he admitted putting Lewis out on purpose and 2. the last race was not worth 50 points.... two more facts...

Rory McIlroy - Who/what is that??? Must be one of those football kickers on a fortune for putting their lives at risk of tripping over loose laces! Thought it was supposed to be a "Sports" personality they were looking for anyway, so what classifies as a sport these days? F1 won't get it because Sky got the contract and the BBC did not. So guess you just have to look and see what it is that BBC puts out and calls "Sport" then you can take an educated guess on just who will bring them in the most money next year in viewing returns.

Who gives a toss really, come on, just another program to show the already rich and famous just how much the British public idolize them, thus enabling the inflating of their egos to greater levels.

My Brother in law got up and sang La Bamba in Spanish at a Karaoke night here. What a SPORT eh? But he won't be recognized as the TRNC isn't.
Apologies for my inability to resist this as there are some good discussion points in this post

Rookie? Seriously? This was Rosbergs 9th year in F1. In Lewis' rookie year (his first year in F1) he took the championship down to the last race beating 2 x world Champion Fernando Alonso his team mate at the time and loosing out to Kimi by 1 point!

How about another "Rookie" for this award then? Granted that in his 14 years of F1 driving he has only been World Champion once, only had 15 wins, 50 podiums, 8 poles and 8 fastest lap's - BUT - he has represented the UK for a long time now and is a gentleman as well. Also this last season may well have been his last!

Jenson Button!!!!!

Should have been McElroy. A lone golfer slogging his guts out around course after course after course is not the same as someone with hundreds working in the background. I admire Hamilton enormously but in F1 its a tem effort, not a solo one.

Lewis Hamilton just tips a big sport and f1s power .
It helps that it was quite recent I suppose ,don't know when people vote ,is it recently eg when he won ?

On the flip side he says himself last night one thousand people are in his team, hardly a sole sportsman .

Rory great effort and most of his work done in the first half of the year .
What about the girl that goes down icy roads on a bin lid ,wow she would get my vote ...real sport

Anyway it's all way the debate ,me i watch lots of sports but do t really have a sport I single out .....but that F1. Brmmmmm boring .......brrrrrrrrrrr tactical

As a sporty person , I say guts and sports go together. Guts are needed for f1, skeleton and even skiing. Gutty sports are exciting. How exciting can golf ever be yawn. No offence meant to anyone.

http://www.golf.com/ap-news/mcilroy-ann ... ement-team Poor lonely guy, all on his own, working his fingers to the bone to scratch a few Lira together. Got to go, pigs are just landing with the cargo of rocking horse cr*p for my trees where the fairy's live.

It was about "Sports" - "Personality", well F1 is a sport and Hamilton has personality, so it was all down to the number of phone calls that the fans made, making F1 more popular than the other sports OR people thinking that Hamilton had more personality than the rest. I think the look on Mcilroys face when he had not won said it all about "Sportsmanship" for me - he was so convinced that it was a done deal it was unbelievable!

For me - although glad that Hamilton won the award - I would have liked to see Gallagher and Evans win it.

This late "parasite" was a big figure in sport. BBC don't ignore a famous personality's death because a jealous, never done anything, minority didn't like him.
