Christmas Fete - Baris Park
I know that there will be celebrations in Baris Park on Tuesday, BUT, does anyone know if there will be anything there today as well?
Many thanks in advance

no ide,a but for those who do not know about the 23rd - roll up any time between 2 and 10, for the Girne Mayor's Christmas for Ex |Pa.s No food, I believe, but a chance to buy a burger, and should be entertainment - not sure what, and take your own Christmas cheer.
Wow, that sounds cynical, but it is not meant to be - but just come and go a s you please and meet a few folk and I believe there will be stalls,

Re: Christmas Fete - Baris Park
The Girne Belediye are really trying to make this a good time for everyone. Not just for Ex-pats, in fact if Ex-pats don't turn up it wouldn't make one jot of difference. Why should we think its for us, just because it's just before Christmas? The Russians and TC's will have a great time,. with or without us, have no fear. Food, music and loads of stalls. It really won't wake up properly until after 6 because daylight is mostly for children. The locals pile in and have a great time, so why shouldn't we?

We went afternoon, few stalls & people in fancy dress. Arrived evening around 8 expecting some live entertainment, the banner did say 14-00 until 22-00! Nothing at all just a few people sat around & clearing stalls.Didnt see any drunks though.

Re: Christmas Fete - Baris Park
Thank you for all the replies.
I did go along with my family and friends that are here for Christmas.
They did make an effort. There was music and free wine for the adults.
There were a few stalls selling some Christmassy things and the usual bric 'n' brac.
They had made the effort. Sadly there was no live music or dancing.
It was a pleasant enough 30 minute outing though.

Oh crickey, what a shame. The Girne Belediye clearly over egged the pudding with their advertising this year. In the passed there have been loads of children (KAR used to sell quite a lot of toys during the afternoon and early evening) By the time we left at 7.30ish it was beginning to hot up. I feel sorry for those stall holders who make the effort, when they could probably could be doing something else so close to Christmas.
