thank you merit hotels for distroying out christmas.
Sale team at this hotel are lying scumbags. My family had our christmas distroyed by these lying cheating scum. If anyone from merit is reading this I am now trying to explain to my children why they have been pushed from one hotel to another and not even had a christmas dinner today or any christmas cheer. We are now sat at home at 9pm at night with out so much as a cracker or piece or turkey. I am so so angry, this is a day we will never get back and it is ruined.

Booked merit park for a christmas dinner and nights accommodation. Spent days confirming this as we wanted a proper xmas dinner. Got there at lunch time only to be told the the xmas meal was last night. Got to the crystal cove who were doing there xmas meal today. So got into another taxi to the other hotel. Who had not booking for us even though the park sais they had booked it for us. Waiting so long that the buffee lunch had closed. Waited till tonight for our so called xmas meal only to be told when we got there that it was not a christmas dinner and that kids were not allowed. We had waited all day with children. No we are home with do food and no christmas.

This could possibly be my last christmas with my kids, so yes our christmas was ruined. All we wanted was a bit of christmas cheer and a proper xmas dinner. Do not even get a cracker.

I can sympathise with you being upset that your plans went way off what you were expecting, however it's not the end of the world. You had your family around you, and that's what it's all about. Make a great big picnic / bbq (to eat inside if necessary), make some crackers, and am sure the kids will love that as much as anything else...and you can celebrate on Boxing Day. Don't let this one experience ruin the time with your children.

Can't see the relevance of a missing cat in this post. Can't eat a cat (knowingly).
Christmas is a big thing for children and to be lied to and the day ruined is unforgivable. The Merit group of hotels if they are to have respectability should compensate your family in a proper fashion. Otherwise put your post back onto the forum next November.

I am so sorry for your experience at the Merit Park. However we have stopped expecting Christmas Lunch as we would expect back in the UK and don't go anywhere that is advertising it - they just can't deliver in our experience and in any case we're in the TRNC not UK. Consequently we went with friends to the usual Merit Royal Buffet lunch and had a great time. 60tl including wine. Went in at 1pm and left after 4pm. Staff were excellent, buffet was up to the usual perfect standard and we couldn't find any faults. Good job we had planned to go out because we had a power cut at 10.45 and it was still off when we left the house at 12.45.

Re: thank you merit hotels for distroying out christmas.
After all the messing around, by the time we got to the buffet all we got was a few chips. All day spend sorting out there mess. Even down to our room. We paid 800tl just to be messed around and have our day ruined. By the end od the day I had 2 very upset and hungry children. I know this is TRNC, but when a traditional christmas dinner is advertised and paid for that is what I expect to get. Even down to getting two very nice outfits for my children just for the to wear for the occation. It was all a waste. Now just trying to salvidge something so I can provide my children with memorys of there mummy and christmas. To top it off my christmas tree broke and fell down yesterday morning so we do not even have one of them.

Like others I am terribly sorry to here of your problems and hope the rest of your Christmas makes up for your bad day.
At this point however I am locking the topic. If you have a problem with this hotel you can only resolve it with them. and unfortunately any further public outburst will serve no purpose.
AS a solely personal observation, all the hotels have their big "do" on Christmas Eve, including the Merit group, whose adverts I have seen. If you have been mis-sold, believing the meal was on Christmas day, you must find the "salesman" who specifically dealt with your booking and take your grievance, and the salesman, to the senior management whom I have found in the past to be respectful and professional in their customer service response. Good luck and I hope you have a most fantastic New-Year to make up for Christmas.
