Well done the swimmers!
At least 16 brave souls swam at Shayna Beach this morning (yes me included) for three very worthy local charities. Supported by Credit West, locals and ex pats alike, great turn out, actually the sea wasn't that bad once you got in.

My better half and I were there to support you all and it was absolutely brilliant - loved Dot's and Mr. Bob's dog going in as well.
Catalkoy's Mayor was there enjoying the sight of us 'Mad' Brits doing what we do all for good causes.
Well done all of you - see you next year ! - Merry Christmas -

Hi. Yes I was there to support, but did I miss something? There were very few, if any representatives of the nominated charities to be seen. Neither did I see anyone from the media, if they were there I apologise!!! Good to see Catalkoy Mayor there, thank you.

Re: Well done the swimmers!
Well done to all the swimmers braving the chilly waters for charity. All 3 are excellent causes and I hope you had a great time and raised some money for them and thank you for doing this!
FAO Owl Lady: oh dear, what happened to the season of goodwill?
Did you offer to support any of these charities on their behalf to give the 'normal' volunteers a day off? Everyone is allowed one day off surely!
Did you offer to take photo's so that people like Susie can have the day off with her son on Christmas day?

Re: Well done the swimmers!
It was a great turn out with lots of support from many (either in person or absence). What made the event even better was the mix of e pats and local people and businesses - they came, despite the gloomy weather, in cars, on foot and minibus to either swim or just shut the countdown with the Catalkoy Mayor and cheer their support. There was free shots of brandy for the swimmers and then Shayna Beach served up breakfasts and coffees all of the proceeds for those have already been handed over to the Charities communal bucket. Well done and thank you to Shayna/Deniz.
All sponsorship money needs to be paid by Jan 7th - if you don't see one of the swimmers then money can be handed into some of them on Jan 7th at The Lodge Catalkoy between 19.45 and 20.45.
There will be a presentation of the total fund shared between the 3 charities at Shayna Beach Club - the date will be announced and it is hoped that representatives from the 3 Charities and the press will be able to attend.
We have set a threshold now and will hopefully be looking at making it bigger and better next year. Well done everyone involved.
Bob and i were proud to be part - and he has now defrosted !!!!

OK Bernie point taken! Yes I do support 2 of those charities financially when ever I can. I appreciate what you said, and I do admire the stamina of those brave people who swam. I was just surprised that's all!! Don't want this post to get out of hand. I apologise.

I think press should have been there, after all it is a muslim country, so not a national holiday. (Tin hat at the ready)
Well done those that braved the cold waters, God Bless you all.

Re: Well done the swimmers!
Wrong swimmers photo they were not the ones this thread is about and weren't at Catalkoy on Christmas Day - the post is about the swim that took place at Catalkoy Shayna Beach for 3 Charities.
These are the 18 who went in at Shayna (Jess the dog is not in this one but she swam also !)
But well done any mad fool who went in the sea anywhere on Christmas Day !!!

Re: Well done the swimmers!
The other picture is from Kervensaray beach where other swimmers took part in the swim for tulips. I thought we were all part of the same cause. Two swims, one east , one west.
Thank you to all that swam where ever you were.

Re: Well done the swimmers!
Sorry dynamic i didn't mean to offend - but i think that you will find that exactly the same group photo (the one from Kerveransary) is on another social media site .
Not all of the people in that photo were , it seems , collecting for Tulips or the other 2 charities being collected for at Catalkoy. There are some , who are in the photos, who were collecting for their own particular cause.
I thought it important that the Catalkoy swimmers be pointed out because it is important that they don't feel they are being confused with the other swimmers collecting for something totally unconnected.
As is said in my photo post Well done all the swimmers who swam on Xmas Day.
