I would absolutely agree that the opening ceremony made me feel very proud to be British. It was so cleverly devised and utterly brilliant. We especially liked James Bond and the Queen parachuting in. More power to ER for entering into the whole thing. I think Danny Bowles needs a Sirship for this extravanganza. We loved it.

Mr Bean was the best bit!! So funny and yes the James Bond theme with the Queen was very good.

If anybody is interested I have an HD recording of the whole 4 hour ceremony. However, it is 3GB and so is not practical on CD/DVD but I could transfer it directly on to your computer via a memory stick.

Not to appear synical but why should Danny Boyle get a knighthood for something he was actually paid to do (and probably very handsomely as well)- he did a great job but I would presume the script and format came from someone else ( government I would think as the whole thing was politically motivated) where he just executed the script. Also the £27 m it cost could have been invested more wisely in the uk film industry to help young up and coming film makers - a more longterm investment that's me ...........

Great Britain will never get up to the standards of some other countries who have millions of pounds (or whatever currency) to spend on training and facilities, some of these facilities are in the schools they attend so they can train during the day, my Grandaughter is a gymnast in a Great Britian squad, she spends a full day in school then trains from 4pm to 7.30pm 5 days and Saturday morning 10 am to 2pm. When she goes to competitions all over the UK her parents have to pay every penny for accommodation and meals for the weekend plus travel, she is now 15 and has been in gymnastics since the age of 3 so it has cost a small fortune, she has qualified for European championships in Belgium and if she goes it will cost £700, some of the money spent on the Olympics could help to get us get further on in the field of sport, I agree have Olympics but why spend so much money?

Hi

The dvd of the opening ceremony was also on sale at Lambousa market on saturday. I think the James Bond sectiom was brilliant but I also thought Simon Rattle was a great sport to be a foil to Rowan Atkinson's contorted features!

Well done, Danny Boyle.
