Turkish visa flying from trnc
I am trying to apply for an evisa for Turkey. I am a British passport holder with temporary residence in TRNC. I will be flying from Ercan. When I try to apply for the evisa it is telling me I am exempt. Is this really the case? When I visited Turkey before from TRNC I had to purchase a visa at the arrival airport. Can anyone enlighten me please?

How long ago did you last visit Turkey?
How long was your last Visa valid for? - that is, is the last one still valid?

Silverfir you definitely need one,I used an evisa for a recent trip.
When you apply, from memory,I think it asks for your country of residence, when what it really means is what country's passport you hold-if you put N.Cyprus in that is probably the reason that you are being told you are exempt-but if you hold a UK passport you will need one.
you therefore need to input that your country of residence is the UK,even though you live here full time.
Hope this helps

Thank you both for such swift responses. Keith my old visa is 12 months old so will be out of date.
Philoz, I`m sure you are right and I need to declare I am a uk resident even if I`m not. Temporary residency is not worth a lot is it? But hey, that`s a can of worms I don`t want to open on this post. Thank you both again. I will have another bash at it later today

Don't feel bad about it, loads of us have made the same mistake. Also don't do what I did in April this year. I didn't realise the thing was valid for 6 months so on returning from Izmir I tore it up together with old tickets and luggage labels. Pays to read the smallest of small print I guess.

Permanent TRNC residency doesn't exempt one from needing a visa either.
