The cooling system at ministry is on 24 hours a day

Residents in Lefkoşa living close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs have complained to Kıbrıs, that the ministry's cooling system is currently on 24 hours a day. The local residents contacted the newspaper not just because the energy is being wasted, but also because the cooling system, situated in the grounds of the ministry, is making so much noise it is keeping them awake at night.

Friday night, kibtek cut off electricity of Ataturk Stadium (the big one) in Lefkosa which belongs to Ministry of Sports, Multimax has a basestation on one of the light towers and customers have suffered from 9pm on friday until 11am next day. Their generator, which did not provide electricity to our part of the stadium, already had run out of fuel by the morning. We had to install our own portable generator system to get things going. Power was still off on saturday at 6pm when we did our routine on site check but was somehow restored by 9pm.

I am actually surprised this was sorted out before monday as nobody at the stadium site looked really interested with the fact that there is no power, they just minded their own business.

You could always believe that the officials and staff are working extremely long hours in devoted duty towards the public. You can also believe that there is not likely to be any thought towards being economic if it is already intended to renege on paying electricity bills so that the inevitable losses are passed on to the domestic consumer by way of ever increasing prices. Many years ago this attitude was dubbed "sod you Jack, I'm OK" !
