The Arcelik Experience
Purchased a oven, hob and extractor on Fri and they we're due to fit on Tue but phoned this morning to offer to fit today. They could not find us so had to meet in Lemar and they followed me to Ozankoy.
They fitted the Extractor and wired in the oven and then said problem pointing to the hob. Basically hole too small for new hob, at which point the man who seemed to be in charge of the three held his arms up in the air.
While he was sitting in the truck sulking I got my angle grinder out and began to cut the granite worktop which took several attempts to get it right. The other two indicated they had another job and after I spoke to their office they said they could come back tomorrow when I had finished cutting the top.
They left leaving the oven on the floor and the hob on the worktop.
Noticed the Extractor wire was hanging down the back so refitted the extractor and then fitted the oven/hob.
I suppose the price was what attracted us to them but never again!

You should have gone to TOROS LTD. They are brilliant at service and after care.

We have used Halos several times before and had excellent service but weighed up our options and thought a saving of 700TL was money towards a new fridge/freezer.

Sounds like you have been very unlucky. We have always had excellent service from Arcelik.
We have appliances from them and Halos and both have been great at after sales service as well as fitting.
Have you been to the store to make a complaint? If so what did they say?
Always sorry to hear when usual high standards fall.

Had a problem with them, went to buy a water dispenser and was told a price which I was ok with 285tl and said fine will be back in half hour after we ate lunch.
On our return a different guy was there and said 320tl which I replied no it ended in 85tl and it went up too 395tl.....REALLY
I left and told them I would never return.

Sounds not unlike our experience with Currys in the UK.

Re: The Arcelik Experience
Thanks for that - it's just that I think that all of the shops with Arcelik signs are independent dealers, so it's interesting to know which ones give good service, and which ones don't...Toftsv wrote:Arcelic in town to be precise.

Having said that, it could have been the main Arcelik service department who were doing the job, - or does each shop have its own service department / installation guys?
Do you know whose responsibility it actually was to make the hole in your worktop? i.e. your kitchen fitters, or the installation people? I'm just thinking that if the kitchen fitters were supposed to do the preparation, then the installation guys would not have either the tools or the experience to rectify an inadequately prepared worktop, and I for one, would not want to risk them messing the job up, and I wouldn't blame them for not attempting it!

You cant expect the installers to cut or modify your hole for the hob! thats the kitchen fitters job - what would you have said if they had cut it too big?

Re: The Arcelik Experience
I have been to the Arcelik shop in the centre of Girne occasionally when browsing for new appliances. Each time I was ignored, even when I tried to ask for information. Will never darken their doorstep again!
Have not tried any of the other Arcelik shops so cannot comment on them.

I had exactly the same experience as meldy at the Arcelik shop in the centre of Girne. Totally ignored and when I asked for assistance the girl just pointed at the appliances. I appreciate the language problem but no attempt to communicate.

Re: The Arcelik Experience
Meldy and DT......you've met that miserable old b+++++er that is supposed to be the Manager. Last year I went in to look at a vacuum cleaner. I pointed out the machine I'd like to have a closer look at. "Why" "Because I'd to have a closer look and this one is on a high shelf" With the greatest moans and groans about fussy foreiginers he went and got a box from the back and dumped it on the floor. "Please can you open the box and let me see how long the wire and tubing is" "Why, its the same as the one on the shelf" "Don't you want to sell me a cleaner" With that I got the TC shrug and I left and went up to Vestel, where the treatment was totally different and a cup of coffee offered, whilst I decided on the model I wanted.
Yes, Arcelik is a franchise. If you really do want an Arecelik item, then go up to Lefkosa - they tend to be a bit cheaper there.

Re: The Arcelik Experience
To all the people that have commented it was the shop just before the market/police station turn and it had nothing to do with the kitchen fitters as we were replacing like for like in a nine year old villa and our measurements were the same old/new appliances. the hob was the main cause of the problem as it had a slight lip underneath and would not sit flush.

Re: The Arcelik Experience
Sorry for double posting but I asked this question on another page and didn't get an answer. So here's hoping for better luck. I want to purchase a flat screened TV about 40" plus delivery. Does anyone have any recommendations for supplier at the right price?

Gaz.

Cyprusgaz - Vestel fits the bill. Much better service and price than Arcelik.

Re: The Arcelik Experience
I think Keith is right about Arcelik being a franchise operation. And I have also had the experience of being treated like the invisible man in the Kyrenia shop!
Having said that I've bought two items from Arcelik in Iskele, and the franchise owner there could not have been more helpful. He gave me a discount for paying in cash, and also a special deal on a sim card form the 'phone shop he also runs in the town.
