When your Car road tax runs out are you allowed one month's grace to renew it?

The answer to your question is yes.

Unlike in UK, you cannot pay for your road tax BEFORE the expiry date, you must go during the following month.

If by any chance you pay later than the following month you will be fined as I was once but the fine was peanuts 2 years ago so I can't see that would have changed much.

No increase, just the hefty fine

They did have an amnesty last year over a 3 month period

Renewed 2 yesterday for friends. Gone up a little bit but not much.

Road Tax can now be renewed before the expiry date (up to 4 working days). I renewed mine in November a couple of days before expiry. Of course, somebody may have shifted the goalposts since then!!!
