SPOT Is appealing for help.

'Friends of SPOT' the fundraising arm, of The Society for the Protection of Turtles, are looking for dedicated volunteers willing to help raise funds and awareness by arranging events during the year.

Turtles hold a very important place on our planet , and have been around before dinosaurs, but now need our help and protection. S.P.O.T. (The Society for the Protection of Turtles) has been a registered charity here since 1995 and M.T.C.P. (the Marine Turtle Conservation Project - coordinated by Exeter University) has been invited by SPOT to protect these endangered species every year since 1992, sending volunteers from around the world to have the privilege working to protect these creatures. The beaches in North Cyprus are some of the top nesting beaches in the whole Mediterranean and bring many tourists to watch Nest Excavations. T hese turtles are like our tourists - they are seasonal visitors and very important to Northern Cyprus.
This year seeing the best results since they started at Alagadi and also at Karsiyaka and Ak Deniz, all beaches protected by SPOT.


Friends of SPOT want to continue to run a programme of awareness and fund raising and due to changes need some more volunteers to help make these aims possible. by the way I should have said that I was posting it for The Friends of Spot, of which tricia Dann is 'the boss'. We really do need both hand son people and think tanks, but that is the package!
Tricia would also like to hear form anyone who wants to be involved in the Karsiyaka ~Turtle Watch when it starts next spring. But people who do that do not have to be involved in The Friends of SPOT (which means that people such as I do not have to get to the beach by7a.m.¬)
