BRS announcement re driving license issue

Dear Member,

Following calls from a number of members regarding over 60’s TRNC driving licence renewal who were informed that the law had changed and that a muhtar’s letter instead of the residency stamp was no longer acceptable.

The BRS Chairman, who was involved in this decision some 12 months ago, visited the driving licence office this week. He was reassured that there was no change to this renewal procedure for those over 60’s without a residency stamp in their passport.

In future, should anyone be informed otherwise please ask for Ibrahim, the manager, and mention David’s name. A letter for BRS members can be downloaded from the website and presented should this be necessary.

We would also like to confirm that the Travel Insurance scheme offered by Staysure has not changed and that TRNC residents can continue to apply. The Chairman wrote to the company and is awaiting written confirmation of a verbal assurance that nothing has changed. Please contact Anthony at Esta Travel, the appropriate agent, as normal.
