Has anyone seen the Rocks Hotel in Girne. Looks amazing, it is completely covered in artificial snow!!!
Well worth a trip to photograph and show your friends in the UK!!

We go down there every year to see it. It is great when they put the snow machine on to make it look like its snowing !

We went between Christmas and New Year at night and they were giving out free mulled wine and roasted chesnuts, a lovely touch.

They also turned on the snow machine for us and it was magical.

Saw it last year and sent a photo to a neighbour over here visiting England, who is a swallow. He went round his local pub showing everyone that there was snow in Girne he really believed it! We laughed snow much!

Talk about tempting fate! I understand there has been a "Severe Weather Warning" on Turkish TV for "Siberian weather" so we may well get the real thing.

btw there has been snow in Girne a few times in the last 19 years, but it doesnt usually settle. There are still postcards about of snow on the tables and chairs and orange trees in Bellapaise one year. Very pretty, but at my age I'd rather have the artificial stuff!

What we will get is bitter winds either from the snow capped mountains in Turkey or from the South on Troodos which will find all the drafty places in houses designed for hot weather. Stock up on logs and make sure you have blankets and woolies to hand.

Can I make another appeal , please, for those who have central heating to be kind and unselfish and not switch it on full blast, otherwise we will all suffer power cuts and as usual the very young and the elderly will be at risk, and those who cant lift gas cylinders nor carry loads of logs
