Waterfalls at Malatya

The first photo shows how it looked after all the recent rain, and the second photo shows how the areas all around the falls looks after the tourists have left after viewing the falls. This load of plastic bags was left by a coach load of locals this Sunday gone. Why don't they take their rubbish with them, as on the way back through Malatya there are 3 large bins which they must drive past!!!

Perhaps someone who speaks Turkish could ask the Belly to station a large wheelie bin there.

trnc vaughan Why not ask the muhtar Zehra to put a wheelie bin. She speaks English. This problem at malatya had been like that for every and the truth is that the authorities don't care. Occasionally it was tidied up but as i say, ask the muhtar .

One should also bear in mind that for a rubbish lorry to get round to the waterfall is a bit of a challenge, and even more of a run to turn around!

Also tne years ago Paul Booker who lived in the village did his best to get everywhere tidied up. He put signs and bins (including a couple at the waterfall). Everyone ignored them. Such a shame because he put a lot of work into tyring to tidy up Malatya and the environs and that was before the houses were built in the middle of the mountain and to visit the waterfall was a lovely little walk along a fairly narrow pathway. But the plastic bags were there in abundance and I don't think it was tourists, and still do't think it is tourists. At one stage there was a protest in the village as the Municipality was dumping rubbish down the ravine there. Think they have stopped now, but at the end of the day it is down to the muhtar and the Municipality! (and possibly the residents of Malatya!)
