Yesterday I had the pest control man in to spray my app. In truth we don't get many creepy crawlies just the odd small beetle, earwig etc . My main bug bear are mossies & small biting flies that are barely visible. They manage to infiltrate the fly screens despite careful manoeuvreing in & out.
To complete the process I meticulously sprayed all the fly screens small spaces between appliances & cupboards, the space above the built in wardrobes.
Last eve just as I was on my way to bed I encountered the biggest spider I've seen in my entire life. One glimpse a resounding yell & I legged it. The other half who was just about to take a shower came dashing out in the altogether to see what all the fuss was about. He captured the monster in a large wide necked glass & relocated it to the garden.
No I didn't take a pic or studied it when it was in the glass I didn't want another look I just wanted it gone. However the other half said it wasn't hairy,
I'm not asking anyone to try to identify it for me with such a meagre description. What I am asking, is there truth in what is said about large spiders being in pairs.?
I slept fitfully last night with the light on & this morning alone in the app I'm creeping around peering into corners worrying that there may be another that will emerge searching for it's mate.

Re: Spiders
Bonnie rest easy - the spider is a shy creature and will help keep your home insect free. The Cyprus Tarantula - which is hairy can administer a venomous bite but this is very very rare and no worse than a bee sting... i.e. it.s no big deal.
The likelihood is that this spider was of the Orb variety and they are totally harmless.

Oh dear! The spider is more afraid of you! Sorry but you are in a mediterranean country. Tarantulas usually do come in pairs, they will do everything to escape you rather than bite. I had one yesterday, we just pop them into the valley. Its the centipedes you need to worry about.....

And ps,tea tree oil or listerine mouthwash in a spray will deterr your mosquitoes etc, why pollute your home with chemicals?
