Gülseven Coles, based at her Zen Gallery in Lapta, is exhibiting her 2015 collection of work “ My other World” at Saçakli Ev, The Eaved House, Nicosia from November 17th .
The exhibition opens at 17.30 hrs. On Tuesday 17th November and can be viewed daily between 10.00 and 17.00 hrs on Thursday and Friday and on Saturday from 10.00 until15.00 hrs.
Born in Paphos in1950 her talent for painting was encouraged at the Kurtulus Lycee by Ali Atakan. However at Hacettepe University she studied English Language and Literature before moving to England and a career in business for 26 years. During this period she found time to develop her passion for art.
In 1994 she returned to Cyprus and started painting again. She took courses in England and France in water colour and pastel techniques and studied oil and acrylic painting here with Guner Pir, Feridun Işiman and Emel Samioğlu and at GAU. In recent years she has had five successful solus and many joint exhibitions with her work in many private and public collections.
She says “ Art is my world. It is never too late to realise your dreams. Initially I considered myself a lyrical spiritual and romantic landscape artist. In the past couple of years my horizon has broadened and the discovery, with my husband, of snorkelling and the magical undersea world it opened up has led to the current exhibition and inspired more abstract painting.”
There is a permanent exhibition of her work at her Zen Gallery and studio at 90 Şht. Celal Hasan Cad. In lapta.

Cumartesi günü saat 10.00 dan 15.00 e kadar ve sergi bitecektir.1950 yılında Baf kasabasında doğdu. İlk resim derslerini Ali Atakan’dan aldı. Hacettepe Űniversitesinde İngiliz dili edebiyatı ŏğreniminden sonra, İngiltereye gitti. Ağır bir iş hayatı yanında resim çalışmalarına devam etti.
1994 yılında Kıbrısa dŏnerek, resime tekrar başladı. İngitere ve Fransada sulu boya ve pastel boya üzerine kurslara katıldı. Kıbrısta, meşhur ressamlarımız,Feridun İşıman Guner Pir ve Emel Samioğlu ile akrilik ve yağlıboya çalışmaları yaptı.
Gülseven diyorki “Resim benim hayatımdır. İnsanın rüyasını yaşaması için hiçbir zaman geç değildir. Daha ŏnce kendimi sadece, romantic ruhsal ve ahenkli bir peyzaj sanatcısı olarak gŏrüyordum. Fakat son zamanlarda ŏnümde yeni ufuklar açıldı ve insan anatomisini tanıyarak figurler üzerine çalişmaya başladım. Bir cok karma ve solo sergilerim oldu” Bu sergim,çok sevdiğim deniz ve deniz altındaki güzellikler hakkında olacaktir.
