Cyprus Solution Documents?
•The Greek Cypriot owner of the property choose between compensation or selling the property to the user.
•The owner of the property can choose to exchange his property.
•If the owner does not want to reclaim his property immediately, the user could have a long term rental deal.
•If the owner of the property applies for his property immediately, the user will be given an alternative.
•The user will be given compensation for the money he spent for improving the property of the owner

Source Please ?
What if its land only
•The Greek Cypriot owner of the property choose between compensation or selling the property to the user. ??
The "user" has already paid good money for the Land/Property how can they be expected to pay twice ?

I find your comments as always Erol very interesting. You sound to me a very knowledgable guy and I would like to know if I may your personal thoughts ? If I ever get the chance to vote at the referendum I would vote a NO as I do not believe things would be better all round living with the GC?

We keep reading about Greek property settlement/claims etc that they want from the north but I've not seen any comments about the Turkish Cypriot property settlement that was in the south. Its so one sided. I wonder why?

Because the GC propaganda machine is relentless!Bahceliboy5 wrote:We keep reading about Greek property settlement/claims etc that they want from the north but I've not seen any comments about the Turkish Cypriot property settlement that was in the south. Its so one sided. I wonder why?
They just keep trying to impress their own electorate, and unsettle this side.
Don't forget that any agreement reached will have to apply to both sides equally...

David, you raise an interesting point here. However, surely the whole of the property industry (TRNC land owners who sold 'their' land, developers, builders, estate agents, banks holding mortgages etc) and the Government charging seller and vendor taxes are all subject to being charged. It cannot be just the purchaser of land/property who must pay.

It's a bit like poll tax/community charge. The easiest person to levy a charge upon is the householder who can't run away!!.
I think it would be impossible to pursue many of the suggested other people involved in the property business. Some went to jail, others disappeared to Turkey with their dosh or UK to enjoy pensions, the NHS, schools etc
The only people who are going to gain from all this will be your 'friendly' lawyer!!!!!!

Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.

Hi. I have tried to write a reply to this post a few times now but it is proving difficult. I voted no to the Annan Plan but if a similar plan was put to me today I would probably vote yes. I had only been living in Cyprus about a year when I voted on the Annan Plan. Now many years on I would probably vote yes for no other reason that I think we need substantial and fundamental change here in the North and a settlement would seem to be an effective 'agent' for change. As to living in a federal state alongside GC I do not fear that really but that is just my own personal view. I did not live through the 'bad times' and neither do I have children to worry about.DenizIsmail wrote:.... and I would like to know if I may your personal thoughts ? Well said Erol - a very sober assessment of the situation.
Good to read something positive rather than ill-informed ranting by hard line nationalists.
