Don't wish to state the obvious,but lost mine in Girne years ago in the land registry debacle and it was handed in to Girne Police ..Phew

Its worth keeping a photocopy of your passport in case it is permenantly lost/stolen.
It makes dealing with embassy's etc. much smoother.

CC, you are so right. I have the important pages scanned, shrunk to fit my wallet and then encapsulated. Banks. police and immigration have accepted it in an emergency. Sorry, that doesn't help the person who has lost theirs and yes if you haven't already been then Police station is first place to contact, Good luck.
