Waste basket on pool pump

Hi,
I am helping a friend to start cleaning his own pool. I tried to undo the waste basket attached to the pool pump, it was well stuck! Its a bit different to mine, mine has two screws which hold it down, this has a plastic handle which you turn, my question is, does it turn anti clockwise or clockwise? Tried it anti clock wise it would not budge.

Hi Mollie,

Have you taken the outer white plastic ( anti-clockwise) off first? if so it should just lift out after.

Thanks for your reply, I cannot even get into the chamber where the basket is! I really don't want to force it maybe a wrench may do the trick.

Do you have the plastic handle that fits round to undo?.

Yes, but it wont budge, hense me asking if its clockwise or anti clockwise? I am convinced its anti clockwise.

Yes it is, but if it hasn't been opened for a while it will need a good budging.

If you have no joy I will gladly pop and see if I can tomorrow.

Hit the black handle with your hand anti-clockwise a couple of times, don't try and just unscrew it as the handle can snap sometimes but a good hit with the hand works.
