Red flag on Internet connection - what is it ?

This may sound a silly question but i am having a "senior moment " (gone are the blonde days !!!) - since we reconnected our internet (Multimax) after being away - we have internet (agonisingly slow and on/off/on/off daily now) we have a red flag/cross symbol on the bottom of the screen on the internet connection (square monitor shape with plug) symbol. What is it ? I thought it meant no connection but we do have a connection of sorts !!!!

Ring Multimax and ask them what the problem is!

Try rebooting everything including your router and your MM power supply to the roof
