Toward a peaceful settlement...?
On reading of the latest GC political intervention here and here, you have to wonder whether there is or ever will be any intent to at least peacefully exist with or accept Turkish and/or Turkish-Cypriot people? Or is it just an eternal trait of politicians, demonising some available group in order to maintain their power - such as white vs black, catholic vs protestant, sikh vs hindu, Hitler vs jews, Amin vs east african asians, Donald Trump vs everyone ......

It's not even a matter of demonising specific groups, but the age old political stance of making the most of holding a balance of power, in order to further your aims. Unlikely as it seems, by threatening to block the EU/Turkey proposal re migrants, Cyprus holds a pivotal role. It is the 'behind the scenes' concessions by the EU/USA, made to ensure their support that could threaten the 'peace process'.

Anastsiades has made his position very clear and does not appear to have left himself any 'wriggle room'. Cant wait for the European Summits on Thursday and Friday to see whether or not he has been bullied into submission..

The deal appears to have been accepted, so it seems that Anastasiades has given in!

If the GC's don't or more like won't accept anything Turkish then boot them out of the EU and allow talks to continue in a sensible manner.

P.B - I think that Turkey accepted the 'watered down' concessions, rather than ROC backing down!
Turtle - 'Boot them out' HOW - Like it or not, they are a full member of the EU with an equal vote, and all of the same rights as any other member state.
You might just as well make a meaningless 'redneck' statement like "Nuke 'em"
Not that I would necessarily disagree!

Keith you'd think EU was a great democratic organisation.
The same organisation who believe the whole of the Island of Cyprus is part of the EU but who conveniently decide to suspend the "aquis unis" rules and regulations for the North

However, the "Aquis" is suspended for the very reason that the EU concedes that it has no control over happenings in the North, - there's no point in claiming to have 'rules' that you are unable to enforce...

There is also little point in accepting Cyprus who at the time had been divided for 30 yrs into the EU with no sign of reunification then or now.
Cyprus in the EU is a huge embasrrassment and proves the organisation is corrupt.
