Rescued baby bird...can anyone help ?

Does anyone here take care of rescued/abandoned birds ??

One of our cats very kindly brought home this morning a very bedraggled looking bird. Thankfully after it's initial shock it is now quite lively but obviously not too happy at living in our bath ! It is a young bird and about the size of the palm of my hand.
Our knowledge of birds is non existent but I would guess it should still be with it's Mum.
We live in Ozankoy and will happily deliver the bird to anyone who could help take care of it.

Currently there is only one professionally equipped and government authorized wildlife rehabilitation center in Cyprus and its Taskent Nature Park (and I happen to work there)

Thank you it is a real shame, we nursed it, fed it best we could and kept it warm, we didn't hold out much hope but I guess thats nature.

If you are going to be an emergency contact for injured birds then you need to publish a telephone number with high availability. A facebook page is not sufficiently reactive as a mechanism for rescue work.

As it is the RSBP advice for finding baby birds still stands... i.e. the baby bird should be placed where its parent can find it and feed it...most likely where you found it, domestic pets should be kept in until this happens. So, unless you are sure the baby bird has been orphaned it should not be taken into care. Of course if the bird is brought in by a cat then it's parent's location may be some way off - but if you listen out you may well hear the parent frantically calling for it.... Try and put it in a safe place where the putative parent can find it - that's its best chance of survival.

These things happen and it's never a happy thing when the you chick does not make it...

You are quite right and we are in the process of finalizing the needed infrastructure for the Taskent Wildlife Rehabilitaion Center hotline and it should be up and running very soon.
