Having said that, your explanation that the short "time out" is to deter hackers doesnt coincide with an explanation on another thread that it is a quirk of the system. Either way I have to say I think it a shame - it ruins spontaneity.....
My apologies, RR - and Soner - my rather inaccurate description as "quirk of the system"; I had previously realised that it was more a protective/defensive aspect of the Ddos system, which I understand is in place to prevent hackers "swamping" the site and making it unavailable and unusable to you, me and all the other members by (loose/poor terminology!!) connecting to the site and then staying connected without doing anything - rather like someone phoning you, you answer, but they do not disconnect - and you then cannot make any calls because your line is blocked, and no-one else can call you!
So - not so much a "quirk of (this forum's) system software, more part of the protection service!

(Have I got closer, Soner?)

Thank for that Jofra, and no need for apology : these misunderstanding occur, particularly when one is rushed for time of space. I am grateful to you for explaining fully - I have been on this board for some two and a half years (goodness, it seems much longer!) and that is the first time anyone has tried to explain the reason for these sudden disappearances! It does rather demonstrate my point that if things go wrong , for whatever reason, an explanation to those affected saves them time and stress and sometimes money, and promotes good relations,.perhaps admin might consideran introduction warning of these "quirks of the system" and explaing how to get over them.

Jofra is there any chance you could be very kind and suggest a reason why the "copy and paste" did not work in my post ;\ I have done it before succssfully and I tried three times in case it was a temporary "quirk"!

Hi Jofra.
Yes, you have hit it on the nail. Thanks.

RR, I will create a FAQs page explaining all. As for copy & paste problem, it may be an issue with your computer, maybe restarting will help. Or, you could try following: try clicking on Ctrl and A at same time to highlight all text, then click Ctrl and C to Copy, go to Message field on forum and click on Ctrl and V - this will paste the text in message field.

Thanks Soner I am sure a FAQs page would be very helpful , bothto new posters, and existing less computer savvy ones! How to copy long items (I have tried to do this with poems in the past but there is a limit on the number of words) and post photos (I know there is a post about this somewhere but it would be useful to have all the info in one place.) would be helpful.

Idont think the cut and paste problem is with my machine, as I have been using the technique quite a lot for my Christmas letters. but I will see how it goes. I think I will try toavoid long posts in future, or split them, and I find all this fiddling about very time confusing and frustrating!
