Universal Bank?
We have been offered 12.5% on a 6 month time deposit. Currently with Creditwest at 9.5%. Don't really know anything good/bad about Universal. Any feedback would be appreciated (they are offering 4% on sterling)

Re: Universal Bank?
I have banked with them for about 5 years no problems apart from being a bit slow issuing my new credit card

Re: Universal Bank?
Universal are a much smaller bank than Creditwest, so may be trying to get a competitive edge on new deposits.
Personally I'd be reluctant to move much money from Creditwest, I've always had good service from them, and they do have a very good independently audited rating. (It was only about 15 years ago that a lot of smaller banks went bust here). But moving a few thousand is probably worth the risk.

Re: Universal Bank?
I have banked withh universal and capital bank solely for the rates on gbp and tl. For sterling they are unmatched . However when you come to take your money out thers always an awkward feeling and all the staff look like its affecting them . Which is concerning . You will also notice that in every branch theres only ever a few customers mostly locals tryning to get loans and lots of staff with piles of papers in front of them . I get the impressionn these banks have poor systems etc.
I also bank with garanti and i have moved all my money away from these local banks and decided against using them . Im going to stick to garanti . I notice that garanti pay. 11.75 % on over.100000 tl for various periods from 32 days .
Clearly banking with a big turkish bank has its own risks . Im not really offering any advice just stating really what i have done .
