can you tell me if the cost of glasses in Northern Cyprus is cheaper than the UK

I'm not so sure....

My wife recently got a pair of glasses plus a pair of reading glasses from Akay Optik in Girne High Street for a total of TL500. Thats not too bad is it?

That depends on what you’re looking for - if you’re happy with buy one get one free for £120 (ish) from Spec-savers then no you won’t get much cheaper if at all in Girne - if you want a range of really good quality frames which are slightly different then yes they are - be aware you need to take your own prescription
