Dishes on Roofs

The house next door to us has recently changed hands. The house came with a 10-12ft high pole with a dish type (this allowed for service from a nearby hotel which must have been blocked by something, Over the last two weeks, two more aerials have been installed, one resembles two thermos flasks, joined at the bottom and is on a pole 5ft high, and another is basic dish shape but facing the mountains, rather than towards the sea and the hotel. I wonder whether it means they are with three different ISPs and what the benefits would be.
