Gecitkoy reservoir walks
Could someone give me information on how to get in to the area so we can walk there. I know where it is but we couldn’t find an entrance last year when we went. I have done a search on the forum. There are two similar posts to mine that weren’t really answered. Thank you

Re: Gecitkoy reservoir walks
As you enter Gecitkoy there is a vegetable store on the left, if you look to the right there is a sign that points to the entrance which is between the store and a house. the track is not made up and if you have a low car don't attempt it. As you go up the track splits, keep to the left. As you get to the top there are two barriers one across the dam its self and on around the reservoir itself. You can leave your car here and walk. They have not made it easy as in places barriers of earth have been laid across the track which you have to climb over.
It is a complete waste of a great feature, if they had someone to run it properly, there could have Nature Trails, Sailing, fishing (Proper fishing that is, not the Turkish mentality of if it swims I can take it home) and Picnic areas....
I'm sure there are other places to access it but I think they are very steep tracks not suitable for vehicles.

The locals in the village could make a fortune if they put Rainbow Trout in the dam, fresh trout sells for lots of Euros up in the Troodos and I am sure it would here as well. Self sustaining fishery provided they keep the nets and the "bangs" away from the water!!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Your correct, there is talk of Trout eggs coming through the pipeline, but I have only caught small Carp so far.waddo wrote:The locals in the village could make a fortune if they put Rainbow Trout in the dam, fresh trout sells for lots of Euros up in the Troodos and I am sure it would here as well.
