It was not US !
Despite the rumours being bandied about - KAR Pet Travel did NOT try and send a cat to the UK with incorrect documentation.
The TRUTH of the matter is that we received a couple of phone calls from a distressed owner who was being told, just a few hours before her cat left TRNC for the UK, that Turkish Airlines would not accept the cats paperwork because one of the documents was not an original. The owners flight to the UK was booked and she was leaving once her cat had gone. She needed help/advise about what to do/what paperwork she should have. She had NOT booked her cats travel with KAR Pet Travel - she had booked with another person/s - they were the ones who were sending her cat to the UK.
It was not US !
The ONLY involvement KAR Pet Travel had, prior to these distraught telephone calls, was that her vet had used the KAR rabies serology test service many months before.
We spoke to the owner, over the course of 2 phone calls (and her vet) about what she was being told (by the other person/s) and we talked her through the paperwork she had, the paperwork that she needed and what she should do - something the other person/s SHOULD have been doing.
We felt so very sorry for her - to have been put in such a position - chasing around looking for documents only a few hours before her cats flight was due to leave. The stress and fear that her cat would not be travelling that day must have awful.
But It was NOT US !
It was not us!!!!

Re: It was not us!!!!
It only goes to reinforce what I have been banging on for ages. KAR are the ones (including many of the local VETS) who really know what they are doing. Most particular in the event of an emergency. Please, please people, don't risk it and don't listen to those people who think/say they know what they are doing. They think there is easy money to be made and everything is straight forward, but on many occasions IT ISN'T (red tape and rules and regulations change all the time) It's only a matter of time before a real tragedy is going to occur. Don't let it be you and your beloved pet that is on the receiving end. It just isn't worth it.

Sophie - you say KAR are the ones (including many of the local VETS) who really know what they are doing .......... do you mean that many of the local vets know what they are doing with pets travelling ?
I don't agree with that - i was really upset to hear the advise my friend was given by a local vet used by many expats here. She aksed him about getting her dog ready for England and the vets advise was to smuggle it over into Greek Cyprus and take if from there. She was told it was cheaper quicker and easy done often and that the vet could put my friend in touch with the right people to help her. It may have been a misunderstanding but she was also under the impression that this vet would even be part of the process ,
Disgusting that a professional with an apparent love of animals would even suggest it never mind help - it is illegal and the end result if caught for the dog may have been final.
Me and some of our other friends have moved to a new vet - i had used this vet for quite a few years but after hearing this i was disgusted. Supposedly this is not a one off - i have heard the same from other people and about some other vets.
My friend ignored the advise and her dog is all ready to travel from North Cyprus LEGALLY once her house has sold.

Sally 4670. So sorry, it was a dreadful bit of cutting and pasting and I do apologise for any misunderstanding. It should have read along the lines of, (some Local Vets who have NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING ARE JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON and handing out false information). I still reiterate that KAR are the real experts though! As to smuggling over the border, all I can say is the VET concerned must be nuts and totally thoughtless. You and your friends are much better off leaving the VET concerned. Hope that clears my mistake up.
