Atlas global plane diverted
Hello people in the know!
I've noticed that the last four flights from stansted to new Istanbul airport have been diverted to Ataturk airport then the flight to ercan still flies from the new airport an hour and a half later. Will I still make the second flight or has anyone been in this situation before so knows how it will work.
Thanks for your time.

Best thing to do is call Atlasglobal because there is no way you can transit between Atatürk and the new airport in 1.5 hours, unless they took you there by helicopter. Atatürk is not meant to be used by passenger aircraft anymore so it's strange that they would divert to it. I've called them before and found them very helpful but I've also had the last couple of flights changed by them shortly after booking

Could it be the airport codes. When New airport opened it was ISL. Once Ataturk closed the new airport was designated IST the original designation for Ataturk.

It's a strange one; one flight tracker site clearly states that KK2002 diverted to Ataturk while another shows the new airport. Also if you run the actual flight tracker on the former you can see that it went direct to the new airport. (Last 3 days)

I'm in Cyprus now!!!
My flight went to the correct airport was on time and all went well. In fact it was quite a trouble free trip!
Thanks for your advice though and I apologise for being incorrect this time!
Cheers all

Just to be 100% clear - did your 'plane go to the new airport, now designated IST?

Yes to be clear first plane arrived at ist new airport about 20mins earlier than planned with no issues or problems and the second flight departed on time.

Re: Atlas global plane diverted
Someone has suggested that perhaps it was commercial planes that were being diverted to the original airport. Could they be right?

To be honest Sophie on a fair few flight trackers our flights were recorded as diverted but we never experienced any problems or issues with the airport. We went straight to new Istanbul airport

I think you mean cargo. Ataturk is now being used as a cargo hub.sophie wrote:Someone has suggested that perhaps it was commercial planes that were being diverted to the original airport. Could they be right?
