Having tried unsuccessfully many times to complete the on-line visa application to visit India, I think I am probably now locked out and will have to go to the Indian Embassy (grrrrr!!!). Has anyone done this recently and is the system still that you have to leave your passport with them for 5 days ?

Hi. As I said, I have tried many times to complete on line and when it gets to the payment page I just can't do it. I have tried Paypay (used many times and never been a problem) and several different cards. My friends also have not had any problems but I have been tearing my hair out for days !!!

A couple of times it did timeout but it eventually worked I should point out that I am in the UK so probably my EE broad band would work faster than yours in TRNC.
Good luck

Dani, when I wanted one about 3 years ago I nervous about getting the photo format right so used one of the visa agents to do it. Ok cost a bit more but might be 'cheaper' for you than going South and better than having to leave your passport . Sorry can't remember which agent just found it through Google.

Thanks. I tried many times but when I got to the payment page, it just didn't work. I had a bit of a brainwave a couple of days ago and tried again on my husbands Tablet - success!! No idea why but so relieved we didn't have to go to Nicosia again. Thanks for all your comments.
