DHL Cyprus anyone had problems
A friend had his passport sent from Canadian Embassy , with an entry visa and papers to DHL in Nicosia near the Mall. It arrived 29th in their office to be collected, he phoned to confirm nd said someone would collect. 30th The passport was on its way to Tunisia, been all around Europe, ended up at Larnaca sorting depot 12.45 4th December and now lost!! This is obviously someone having a laff. Going over to-day and will sit until they find it, anyone got any advice, except don't use DHL in South again, please?

Why wasn't it sent DHL North Cyprus? It is very easy now as it goes to Cafe Boss in Girne. Same for sending stuff as well. Maybe if you ask nicely, Steve at Cafe Boss might be able to get some sense out of DHL for you as he is one of their agents. Worth a try if you have no luck in the south.

Re: DHL Cyprus anyone had problems
Guess there must have been a real mistake at the beginning, because anything via DHL for us comes to the north. I know that doesn'thelp the present problem, but yes, speak to Cafe Boss and see if they can help. But of course if wrong info was given at the beginning, or somewhere along the line, then it maybe difficult. It must be somewhere.
Reminds me when I got an Egyptian visa - got lost, and in a big sweat as the time drew near for departure. Where was it/ down the back of a cupboard in the local post office in South London! Just can't get the workers these days, can you? Hope it turns up, otherwise it is a big headache.(stating the obvious here, sorry)

Re: DHL Cyprus anyone had problems
I renewed my (British) passport via Cafe Bos and was pleasantly surprised by the speed and efficiency with the whole process.
However I did have a problem with DHL on a previous occasion and it is perhaps worth repeating the story. A mail order company decided to send a parcel by courier and used the Mersin 10, Turkey, address I had given them, but fortunately had put my mobile number on the address label. Result was a phone call from a very confused gentleman in Istanbul who had no idea of the signifance of the Mersin 10 postcode and wanted to know where the h... Ozankoy was, not having been able to find it in the Mersin district of Turkey!
I think that , unlike the Turkish Post Office, the courier services do not necessarily realise that Mersin l0 is code for "North Cyprus". Now if I have anything sent by courier I ask them to add "K.K.T.C." in brackets after "Mersin l0" and also to be sure to include my mobile phone number in the address label.

HSBC Bank Girne, turn right, about 4 shops down, you cannot miss it, and they are so helpful will help all they can, we did my husbands passport when changes first happened, Rowena could not have done enough to help us, and it was with us within 3 weeks, no hiccups dispite it being first week of change, strongly recommend, and you can have a lovely coffee and cake or sandwich whilst doing, all home cooked!

Re: DHL Cyprus anyone had problems
Went to DHL in the South and was semi convinced that they were doing everything to help. They talk the good talk, package ended up in Kyrgyzstan on sat 8th, next day, then Kazakhstan on 10th and now has been in Germany for 24hrs. Tell me this is not political. Unfortunately the Embassy in Tel Aviv addressed the envelope to TRNC but DHL correctly put Larnaca on docs because that is where he wanted to collect. This is immoral and illegal and puts the name of DHL in the pits.

Re: DHL Cyprus anyone had problems
Sent a parcel to DHL in the South (much cheaper than paying excess baggage for your UK shopping). Arrived the day I flew home and collected it without any problems. You are given a number to track the progress of your parcel on the internet.
Would suggest that anyone using the service ensures that the DHL address is accurate as they did spend some time looking for this in the UK. The street address in Nicosia is: DHL CYPRUS, 64 VITHLEEM STREET, STROVOLOS, NICOSIA 2033.

Slightly off topic - but can you send two passports renewal applications together via DHL (one package)?
