Residency advise again.
A friend of mine rents here, his mother in law is staying with him, yesterday they went to the Police station to sort out her residency and was told he would have to purchase a property first? Is this a recent new rule please?

Surely a misunderstanding in translation, or wrong advice? Certainly haven't heard of such a new ruling personally. If there had been, am sure there would be some mention in the news/social media (as in an uproar).

Thank you, that was my thinking. Soner is Red hot on this subject, maybe he can throw some light on this subject?

does his mother in law’s name appear on the rental agreement?
If not perhaps that’s the problem and it got lost in translation?
