My currency 3xchange is higher than the official rate .

Selling at 1980 buying at 2040

Official rate 1940.. ($/tl)

Apparently it's more pronounced in the big bazaar in Istanbul where the goverment are buying Dollars everyday to pay out the guaranteed deposit schemes when they finish after the election..

I have heard talk of a big fall in tl after the election after the behind the scenes short term.support for the currency stopd regardless of who wins

Who knows but I only ever keep immediate cash in tl now .

I have noticed the local moneychangers are giving more than the official mid rate for £. Also no 200tl notes, only 100s

I got 25tl to £ yesterday in Girne.

Yes, currency controls are set to be eased after the election next month so further tl weakness will follow

MVP, I got only 200tl notes from the moneychangers near Cratos - no 100tl notes. Two weeks before that I only got only 100tl notes.
