Garage mot cost

First time I have had to Mot my car and ask how much generally does a garage charge to do this for you i.e you drop the car off and the garage pays the duty due and all that is required for the mot presuming there are no mechanical issues or structural problems and has anyone taken a car for its mot themselves i.e taking the car for an emissions inspection paying for mot on line and taking the car to the police station.

Bailey 33 I did mine last week. The emissions is straightforward and the cost negligible, less than 100tl.
I don't have a printer so used the money exchange next to the Deli Cafe, Alsancak to pay on my behalf the cost was 580tl iirc
Went straight to the test centre where the guy checked engine number, lights and first aid/triangle job done for another three years.
Nothing like a UK MOT.

We just did ours, emissions were 200 at Erdener. Cleaned outside only at KPet 120tl. No need to book just pray he's happy. Today he was and what a great check it was. Horn, lights switched on, engine started, prodded part of bumper held together by duct tape and laughed. Oh checked numbers matched. In and out in 10 minutes Max.

Thanks for all replies all looks relatively simple do you need a fire extinguisher as well as triangle & first aid kit.

I was quoted by a garage for them to take it in excess of 3,900 tl if there were no issues.

Depends on the mood that day, we were never asked. Last mot they said I needed new back lights the previous mot they never mentioned them! By law you are meant to have a triangle etc.

By law you are meant to carry two triangles and one first aid kit that has not been opened, plus a vehicle fire extinguisher - carry them and you are covered both North and South. My MoT is due end October and for the first time in years I am going to let the garage do the lot including the full service. I will let you know the total cost and what happened afterwards. As it is the first MoT for this vehicle I don't expect it to fail unless they spot that mudflaps are not fitted - lol.

Waddo, get quote for full service first. Had mine done....not quite full service as only engine and gearbox oil changed along with filters and spark plugs, total cost 12,500tl. I fell off my seat.

Soner, Will do, always use Erdener garage for everything and only have to ask for quote if needed or if they tell me they have found something else that needs attention. Found them to be very fair in all my dealings with them so far and always very helpful.

Blimey that’s over £370! Perhaps you should consider changing your garage.

My 31 year old was recently MOT'd at Erdener. Cost was 1600TL.

Ok payed my car tax and mot inspection in iskele no waiting went straight in I was there for 8:30 then straight after did the emissions test whilst there cost 150tl next day went to the police station inspection place he checked my papers checked lights were working and brake lights in and out in no more than 10 mins a good experience to try and do it myself glad I did and thanks to all that responded.

Alphamike the emissions test was done at Karpaz yolu uzeri tel 05338484845 which is really Bafra near the new supermarket turn right at the end of the road opposite the kpet garage and about 500 meters from the kpet garage on the left and got tested in the Girne police testing place.
