Republican Turkish Party (CTP ) Member of ParliamentSami Özuslu announced that the total annual electricity, cleaning and insurance costs of the new Presidential building amounted to 160 million TL. Özuslu stated that this figure was 5 times the budget of the Ombudsman, 2 times the budget of the Public Services Commission and even higher than the budget of the Court of Accounts, and that this increase, when compared to the limited increases in the TRNC's education, health and infrastructure budgets, meant waste and irresponsibility.

Özuslu's statement is as follows:

“THE ELECTRICITY COST OF TATAR’S COMPLEX IS MORE THAN THE BUDGET OF THE COURT OF ACCOUNTS!

The Presidential Complex, built by the Republic of Turkey upon the request of Ersin Tatar , has placed a heavy burden on the budget. Let's compare the figures in the 2025 budget with those of 2024:

# Cleaning expenses increased from 2.9 million TL to 9.9 million TL. (233% increase)

# Electricity costs increased from 7.7 million TL to 141.8 million TL. (1675% increase)

# Insurance fees jumped from 292 thousand TL to 10.5 million TL. (6300% increase)

# While the TRNC budget increased by 73%, the education budget by 51% and the health budget by only 41%, the Presidency budget increased by 197%.

# The annual total cost of electricity, cleaning and insurance for the new presidential building alone is 160 million TL. This figure is five times the budget of the Ombudsman, twice the budget of the Public Services Commission and more than the budget of the Court of Accounts.

"In conditions where our people cannot access medicine and health services, education is confined to containers, and there are so many needs in infrastructure, especially highways, placing such a terrible burden on the public budget is nothing but the height of waste and irresponsibility."

Pity it doesn't mention all the new cars they have bought themselves. BTW, it isn't the height of waste and irresponsibility, its greed and living above your means, which ALWAYS leads to Bankruptcy.

141.800.000 TL for electricity would mean, at 12,35 TL + VAT = 13,59 TL per kWh, a consumption of 10.434.000 kWh a year,
= 28.587 kWh per day or
= an average permanent load of 1.191 kW
= roundish same consumption as 2500 inverter aircons.
or maybe they do expect an electricity price of 50 lira per kWh in 2025?
