High-income residency question? (RENEWAL) Noter's letter

If you are high-income resident but not residing in rental property i.e you are living in a family or partner's property (so not formally paying rent) the requirement is to get a Noter's letter declaring this fact BUT MY QUESTION IS do you then have to take that declaration to the Tax Office in Girne (Vergi Dairesi) to get an official tax stamp (damga pulu) to the document ??

SO has anyone done this recently??

Yes ! Noter letter is only valid for 1 year. Although we have always been granted 2 years residency.
Last renewall we where told, Noters letter & rental contracts must be registered and stamped. With new residency application. Next renewal for us April 2026.
Will see if same rules apply

Ah that is very interesting Mimi2 so if I have one dated from last December can I use it for my Renewal Police appointment next week?

**Update** Upon further detection I believe that I will require a fresh Noter's letter unless anybody knows better??

Just had to deal with this. I'm living with my long term partner in her mother's house. Her surname is same as her mother's but mine is not. Went to the noter for document stating we live there. Took it to the tax office and got refused as my surname is not of the family's. What a farce this is. Was then told the only way to get round this was to rent a room in the property. Fill in the rental agreement and pay the rental tax. You can't make it up !! Farce

So they will not accept single papers and living common in law anymore. And they wonder why people do not like doing residency.

This business of "common Law" which isn't actually legal here , so I'm told (doesn't actually apply to me thankfully) where wills are concerned can be difficult. It needs double checking because I've heard two different versions from two different Advocates. But best to check.

Did you take this to the Police appointment then was it them that told you this?
Did you get 5-day notice?

And yes I am literally petrified of doing residency now what with this and Banking requirements they just slip in and don't tell anybody i've had all sorts of hell at the Police station in the past and i've literally lived here best part of 20 years!! They've had more blood out of me than a serial killer ffs

Took notes letter to tax office. It was there it got refused . No point then trying at the police station as it was not certified by the tax office. Had to get a rental agreement t and pay tax on it. Accepted that (so far).
